Submissions
to search engines
Q:
Are submissions guaranteed to get added to a search engine?
A:
Unfortunately the answer is no. For various reasons a
submission to a search engine, index or directory does
not necessarily guarantee an addition to the site.
It is therefore essential to re-submit your URL (website)
at regular intervals.
Q:
Which is the best option automated or manual submissions?
A:
Generally the best results are achieved from manual submissions
of URLs (Web sites). It can be a long hard process,
but the advantage over automated submissions is it can
result in a far higher acceptance rate. Manual submissions
allow you to target your online promotions more effectively
and improve visitor numbers.
Q:
When you have completed automatic submissions will I immediately
get high levels of visitors to my website?
A. The simple answer is no.
It will provide you with a foundation to build your visitor
levels. High Web site traffic takes time to develop,
this can be speeded up if you are prepared to pay for
keywords and banner advertising. Normally it takes many
hours of hard work.
Q.
How long will it take before submissions are accepted?
A. When submissions are completed
it takes up to eight weeks for some engines and directories
to display your records. Please note a 'submission' is
different from an 'addition' - many sites may not add
your website at all!
Q.
Can my website be improved to assist in my chances of
improving the numbers of website visitors?
A. Yes it can. i) By ensuring that
your website contains META tags in the HTML source code.
ii) The use of keywords in document text and regular submissions
to search engines. iii) Adding a Site map could assist
search engine "spiders" to access your website's
web pages.
Q.
Why do I have to resubmit to search engines?
A.
For various reasons, examples are i) your website was
not previously accepted/ added, ii) some engines will
"lose" your records over a period of time, iii)
new search engines and directories are launched from time
to time.
